In May 2015 I started working for Positive Life NSW, a non-profit community-based organisation, which is the voice of all people living with and affected by HIV in NSW. There are two reactions I get when I mention to someone that I work in the HIV sector.

Today, about 10 per cent of people living with HIV in Australia are women, yet they continue to be relatively invisible in the HIV prevention message. As a heterosexual woman living with HIV for the past 21 years, I am acutely aware today that the experience of women with HIV is still mired in ignorance and invisibility.

The 23rd annual Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) recently took place in Boston, Massachusetts 22-25 February 2016. CROI is arguably the world’s most prestigious HIV scientific get-together and the program content is reflective of that ranking.
