We’d like to hear from PLHIV in NSW about how the s100 Copayment Waiver Form is working for you?

Since 2015, the NSW Government has paid the patient co-payment fee for Section 100 (s100) HIV medicines (approx $39.50 for most PBS medicines or $6.40 if you have a concession card) on behalf of people living with HIV (PLHIV) after we sign the s100 claim form. Positive Life commends NSW Health for this initiative and has had extensive feedback from PLHIV about how the co-payment waiver validates our experience and has made a difference.

At the moment, we complete and sign a new consent form every 12 months with our HIV doctor (s100 prescriber). This form is kept at the chemist where we fill the prescription for the co-payments to be made.

Positive Life is preparing a submission to the NSW Ministry of Health about this 12month co-payment waiver form and we’re wondering how this is working for you?

  • Is it a hassle to keep filling out this form every 12 months?
  • Would a one-off consent form be easier for you? or
  • Do you think it would be better if the Government did not require this form at all (e.g., ‘no-consent’ form)

We’d like to hear from PLHIV in NSW about your experience of the patient co-payment waiver form, the good and the bad, and your thoughts about the waiver consent form.
