For many people testing HIV positive can be a tough, confronting and overwhelming experience that may leave you feeling anxious and confused. While a positive diagnosis is never easy, today the prospects for successful HIV treatment are better than they have ever been. If you are newly diagnosed try not to panic, the world won’t come to an end nor is it the end of you! Think of it as an opportunity to grow. It’s a challenge to you and the people in your life. Take control, there’s a wealth of support and information available. Who you talk to now could have a significant impact in the future.

Albion Street Centre - Counselling available. Call 9332 9600

Genesis - A weekend workshop for newly diagnosed gay men. Call ACON 9206 2000

Poz Het - Support for heterosexual (straight) men and women living with HIV. Call 1800-812-404

The Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM) provides a list of General Practitioners who prescribe HIV medications in NSW.
