Looking for a job is always a nerve-wracking experience.

The endless applications, constant waiting, and rejections can take a toll on your mental health. The time and energy spent are no joke. It’s like running a marathon that never seems to end.

It can also be incredibly demoralising when the decision-making power lies with someone else and not with you.

Finding a job is very similar to finding a relationship. You’re looking for the right fit, something that aligns with your values, skills, and goals.

Once you land that job, you’ll be spending 8-10 hours a day with your coworkers, sometimes five days a week. That’s a big chunk of your life! So, finding a job you’ll be happy in is super important!

The job hunt is tough, but so are you. Take breaks and keep going. Eventually, the right opportunity will come along, and when it does, all the hard work will be worth it. Stay patient, stay focused, and most importantly, be kind to yourself along the way.

Given this process can be stressful, self-care is essential. Job hunting can feel like a full-time job in itself. Often it takes longer than you expected. What’s important is to recognise that you can only do your best. Focus on those things you can control. These include your efforts, your mindset, and your self-care.

Part of taking care of yourself might be talking to someone who understands. Whether it’s a friend, mentor, or even a professional, sharing your experiences can help. You don’t have to go through it alone. A good chat can lead to fresh ideas, helpful feedback, or simply letting out your frustration. Sometimes, just being heard is enough to feel better.
